What we do
Whether you are starting from bare subfloor or bringing a 1940s oak floor back to life, we handle the full job with our own crew.
Solid and engineered hardwood, nailed or glued down, laid straight, herringbone or chevron.
Waterproof luxury vinyl for kitchens, baths and basements, with clean, tight edges and transitions.
Sand to bare wood, repair damaged boards, stain and seal. Worn floors look new for far less than replacement.
Staircases designed and built to code, from straight runs to open-riser and curved stairs.
Replace carpeted stairs with hardwood treads and risers, or refinish the treads you have.
New handrails, newel posts and spindles in wood or wood with iron, plus repair of loose rails.
Feature work that makes a room: compass-star medallions, contrasting borders and patterned inlays, cut and fitted into new or existing floors.

Refinishing, done properly
A good refinish depends on the sanding. We work through progressively finer grits so the stain goes on evenly and the finish lies flat, with no swirl marks showing in the light.
Most rooms are ready for light foot traffic within 24 hours of the final coat.
How a project runs
We visit, measure, check the subfloor or existing wood, and give you a written price.
Pick species, board width, stain and sheen. We bring samples to see in your light.
Furniture moved, rooms sealed off, and old flooring or finish removed.
Install, sand or build the stairs. You get a daily update on progress.
We inspect every board together and hand over care instructions.
Choosing a wood
Hardness matters if you have kids, dogs or high traffic. The Janka rating measures the force needed to press a steel ball into the wood. Higher means more dent-resistant. We help you balance hardness, color and budget.
Questions
A typical 500 to 800 square foot area takes three to five days, including sanding, staining, finish coats and drying time between them.
Most solid hardwood can be sanded several times over its life. Engineered floors depend on the thickness of the top layer. We check this at the free estimate and tell you honestly which makes sense.
Usually not. We seal off the work area and use dust-contained sanding equipment. You may want to stay elsewhere for a night if finish is being applied in a main hallway.
Yes. We lace in new boards to match the old pattern and mix test stain samples on site until the color matches.
Yes. Rise, run, headroom and handrail height are built to your local building code, and we coordinate permits where needed.
